Overview
Calculations for benefits due under Florida’s workers’ compensation law can be complicated and onerous, not to mention time-consuming. For years, those charged with the task would do their best and hope to get "in the ball park". Needless to say, this approach left a lot to be desired. Claimants & their attorneys', the insurance companies & their attorneys' — all were left wondering if the claim had been paid correctly.
Solution
WorkersComputation incorporates the requirements and nuances of Florida workers' compensation statutes & case law; options for the various interpretations of said case law; as well as Division rules & policies. A user is able to perform an accurate calculation, in a matter of minutes, with little or no knowledge of workers' compensation law.
Implementation
The first release of WorkersComputation included only a Present Value calculator. Met with resounding success, the software was expanded to include calculators for Past Due calculations and, later, Offset calculations. Each calculator is further categorized by benefit type and offers options to accommodate various types of payment situations that can occur during the lifetime of a claim.
